What are Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections used for?
It is very successfully used for treating frown lines, forehead furrows, eye lines (crow’s feet), lip (smoker) lines, down-turned mouths and dimple chins.
Is Botox safe?
Yes, it has been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use and has been used for over 30 years without any known long-term problems.
How does Botox work?
The Botulinum toxin inhibits the nerve transmission to the muscles under the skin. Wrinkle lines formed by the dynamic action of underlying muscles will then become smoother or disappear altogether.
Can anyone have Botox?
It is suitable for everyone apart from those who are pregnant or breast feeding and certain medications.
Do Botox injections hurt?

How will I look after Botox treatment?
There may be slight redness immediately after, which settles within a few hours. Application of ice helps and it is easily covered with makeup.
Is there anything I should avoid after Botox treatment?
For the 1st 4 hours we advise not to do vigorous exercise, drink excessive alcohol or lie down flat. Otherwise life can carry on as normal.
How quickly does Botox work?
It starts to work in about 3-5 days. The optimum effect is seen after about 1-2 weeks.
How long does Botox last?
At first 3-6 months depending on each individual’s own response. Repeat treatments have been shown to last 1- 2 years.
Does Botox leave my face numb?
No. There is no sensation change to your skin.
What are the side-effects of Botox?
It is a very safe treatment. However, side-effects can occur but are rare. They can include slight bruising at the injection site, temporary headache and slight nausea.
Will Botox leave me expressionless?
