Don’t smile because you show too much gum? With the latest technology now you can smile with confidence

clock July 30, 2008 01:38 by author mike

Excessive gum visible when people smile is a very common and unsightly issue many people have, but people need not be embarrassed of this problem any more. With the latest laser technology Cosmetic dentists can recontour or reshape the ‘gummy smile’ by what’s known as a gum lift  or gum recontouring.

The Gum lift Procedure

At first the cosmetic dentist will assess your smile, teeth, gum and lip contour.  Measurements will be taken on how much gum can be recontoured.  The cosmetic dentist can also advise if teeth reshaping or cosmetic contouring of teeth may be useful or if porcelain veneers or smile makeover would be of benefit.

By using a special laser the cosmetic dentist will recontour the uneven or excessive gum above the teeth painlessly and quickly.  The gum heals within a few days leaving a much more attractive appearance of the gum when smiling.  This can be taken as little as 2 minutes a tooth!

The gum lift procedure can be done alone or in conjunction with other cosmetic dental procedures such as porcelain veneers, crowns or smile makeovers.  Short teeth can be lengthened very successfully which improves aesthetics and can aid cosmetic dental procedures known as crown lengthening.  This may be necessary to increase retention of dental restorations.

Gum Lift Precautions

Because of the advances in this procedure it is important to find a cosmetic dentist who has the latest equipment and appropriate experience in the gum lift procedure.  Make sure the cosmetic dentist is registered with the GDC and offer full aftercare.

Perfect Smile Spa, London’s and Essex’ leading cosmetic dental clinic specialises in gum lifts. If you would like further information on gum lifts please contact Perfect Smile Spa on 01708 442114 or emailcare@perfectsmilespa.co.uk

How Can I Replace Missing Teeth

clock July 29, 2008 05:07 by author mike

DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental Implants are the most advanced therapy available to replace teeth. In addition to looking and feeling like real teeth, dental implants allow you to:

  • Improve your smile
  • Eat the foods you enjoy
  • Restore your confidence

DENTAL BRIDGES

A Dental bridge is fixed to the remaining natural teeth restoring aesthetics and function. There are two types of bridge-:

Fixed – A Dental bridge fitted over prepared abutment teeth.  A secure and long-lasting option.

Adhesive – A Dental bridge which is bonded to natural teeth and requires minimal tooth preparation.

Having a fixed Dental bridge can make a fantastic improvement to the quality of your life and the treatment can be completed in two weeks!

COSMETIC DENTURES

There are two types of Cosmetic denture:-

Acrylic- Cosmetic dentures

Cobalt Chromium (or metal based) Cosmetic dentures only advised when some teeth are present.

The advantages of Cobalt Chromium Cosmetic dentures are: -

Better chewing (more stable; less movement of denture)Food more enjoyable (less coverage of the mouth)Stronger (metal is very hard, plastic can fracture)Lighter and thinner (plastic is more bulky)More healthy (less gum coverage)

If you want a fixed restorative option that leaves your teeth unaffected, then Dental implant therapy will offer you a cost-effective solution for the long term.  The treatment is comfortable to carry out and the results are long lasting.

TREATMENT PLANNING

Cosmetic dentists and Implant dentists strive to diagnose dental problems accurately. Duplicate models of your mouth, x-raysArticle Search, special gum measurements and the bite pattern are some of the factors we assess during a complete mouth examination. A treatment plan is then made giving you options and good advice as to which treatment best suits your individual needs.

Embarrassed to Smile - No Need Anymore

clock July 28, 2008 06:02 by author mike

Latest Cosmetic Dentistry can provide you with the smile you've always wanted.

Cosmetic Dentists all over the UK are providing Smile Makeovers for people who hate their smile. Research shows that 76% of people are not confident to smile and 77% of people believe a great smile helps them psychologically.

My confidence is now sky high' says Maria Knight who had her treatment at Perfect Smile Spa. 'No more will I be afraid to attend the dentist'.

More and more people are having Cosmetic Dentistry, even though it can cost up to the price of a small car. 'I think television makeover pro grammes have increased public awareness of what Cosmetic Dentists can now do in the UK' says Dr Jas Sagoo, Principal Cosmetic Dentist of Perfect Smile Spa. 'Also many celebrities have had Cosmetic dentistry for example, Katy Price, Simon Cowell and many many others!

Another big part of the appeal is how quickly Smile Makeover treatment can be completed. "In only about 4 or 5 appointments, my old teeth were 'Zoom' whitened, my misshapen bottom teeth were filed, my top gums reshaped, even my old silver fillings were replaced with white fillings and my veneers were fitted - I had a new dazzling, but very natural smile" says Claire Thomas who also had treatment at Perfect Smile Spa. Technology has advanced immensely with Cosmetic Dentistry today in the UK that Cosmetic Dentists can really change even the worst smile. Treatments range from cosmetic contouring - which is re contouring of the teeth, to Laser Teeth Whitening - which gives whiter, brighter teeth in less than an hour. Missing teeth can be replaced with dental implants, cosmetic bridges or cosmetic dentures. Uneven, crowded and discolored teeth can be made perfect with porcelain veneers or Smile Makeover.

'There are minimal side effects with Cosmetic Dentistry and risks are so tiny but it is important to see a Cosmetic Dentist who is registered with the General Dental Council. As with all Cosmetic techniques, those who do it most tend to be the best at it, so ask how many people your dentist has treated'. Dr Jas Sagoo says 'A good clinic should show before and after pictures and allow you to even talk to previous patients, if requested'.
