If you have an infection and have been told that you need Root Canal Treatment then an Endodontist is needed to carry out the treatment. An Endodontist is a specialist dentist who deals with infection of the pulp.
Root Canal Treatment is a lengthy and sometimes complicated procedure and needs to be done correctly. The infection in the tooth needs to be thoroughly removed other wise there is a risk that the tooth could get re-infected in the future, leading to more costly treatments or worse still you could loose the tooth.

Some even teach other Dentists in Endodontics in hospitals. Any dentist good enough to teach other dentists is worth considering for your treatment.

A good Endodontist will leave your treated tooth for a few weeks to make sure the tooth is settled. A filling is then placed and ideally a crown in the near future to protect the tooth. Root Canal Treatment weakens teeth and to help prevent breakage a crown is needed.
