Anti Wrinkle Treatments Performed by Cosmetic Dentists
Cosmetic Dentists specialise in Cosmetic Dentistry. This involves using dental treatments to improve your smile. Many Cosmetic Dentists complement their Cosmetic Dentistry by also offering Anti Wrinkle treatments. The most popular type of Anti Wrinkle treatments are Botox and Facial Fillers.
Botox is used to help mask the frown lines on your forehead, the crows feet found in the outer corners of your eyes and the area between your eyebrows. The Cosmetic Dentist will first assess the area you require Botox to get an idea of how much would be needed to mask the lines.
Written consent is obtained and a post operative sheet given stating the exercises you need to do to help disperse the Botox solution. The Cosmetic Dentist will also go through these instructions verbally with you.
The area will be cleaned with a special cleanser to remove make-up etc and the Dentist begins to administer the Botox. Botox is a quick procedure to do and is done without any local anaesthetic. Infact it would take longer for the anaesthetic to work than what it would to do the Botox!
For future reference the dentist will record the areas injected on a record sheet and the quantity injected. Botox usually lasts for around 3 months and is charged per area. Sometimes after 5-7 days patients feel certain areas may need more. This is called a Top up. These are usually done free of charge and they most certainly are at our dental practice in Essex.
Facial Fillers are used to smooth the lines around your nose and mouth area. They are also used to plump up you lips and define the ‘cupids bow’ area of your top lip. The products used are called Restylane and Perlane. Patients find these areas more sensitive and it does take longer than having Botox. Local Anaesthetic can be given but sometimes the results can be hard to see as the local can make your lips swell.
Once the swelling has gone down the full results can be seen. Should you decide that more is needed then another appointment can be made for this. Bruising is expected for a few days after treatment but not always the case. Facial Fillers is usually charged per syringe and can last between 6-9 months.
Botox and Facial Fillers should only be carried out by a qualified Practitioner, Cosmetic Dentist or Cosmetic Dentists in Essex. These treatments are becoming more and more popular. If you are thinking about having these kinds of treatments ask friends or family if they can recommend someone.
